When the first computers were made, memory (and the entire computer) was very expensive, so to save memory, they truncated years down to 2 digits (1977 to 77). You might try asking a few Y2K experts to explain this and see if the answers make any sense at all, particularly if they were to be required to present those answers in a court of law in response to a claim for negligence giving rise to liability to make good your Y2K costs.
